What is Dermaplane?

Get Rid of Facial “Peach Fuzz” Once and For All with Dermaplane.

Have you ever noticed that your face is a little fuzzy? Is your makeup hard to apply? If you answered “yes” to these questions then dermaplaning might be the perfect service for you!

So what exactly is dermaplane?

Dermaplane is a non-invasive, physical exfoliation treatment that uses a surgical tool to remove what’s known as vellus hair  aka peach fuzz. I think this is a wonderful service because it has a low risk of complications and is one of the safest skin rejuvenation procedures available.

What can I expect from my dermaplane treatment?

Some patients have reported redness or a dry feeling to their skin after a treatment but this is very temporary. You can expect to heal within 24 hours of your service. The advantage to dermaplaning over waxing is that there’s no downtime. You can resume your normal activities immediately. Typical care following your treatment includes the use of moisturizers and sunscreen and be sure to avoid sun exposure for a few days.

Won’t the peach fuzz on my face grown darker and thicker after it’s removed?

No! This is a common myth but the hair on your face is not the same as the hair on your legs or bikini line. What you’ll notice instead, is a soft and smooth face, in my option the hair grows back slower.

When dermaplane isn’t recommended.

Regular use of dermaplane can improve or eliminate superficial skin problems. It works on all skin types and will cause no skin color change or scarring. However, it is not effective for problems such as stretch marks, reducing wrinkles, or deep acne scars. Furthermore, it is not recommended for people with active acne or very dry skin. It is rare that your skin will be nicked but it’s important to remember that your aesthetician must be properly trained in dermaplaning. Always ask before you begin this treatment regimen to ensure the highest quality care and service. As with any skin treatment, it is always best to follow up with an effective home care regime. Think about it, when you get your car detailed, you don’t throw a bunch of junk in it! You do your best to maintain its cleanliness. The same goes for your face. It’s simple to start a good daily routine by using a quality cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Eventually you can consider adding some powerhouse products like Vitamin C, AHA and whitening cream, depending on your skin type and your skin care goals. Beauty always starts from the inside, so first and foremost, treat yourself with love and kindness, eat good food and drink lots of water! Book dermaplane treatment.
